My Great Bear Rainforest Adventure – Part 1
I turned 40 a few months ago. I spent a lot of year 39 thinking about turning 40 and wanted to mark the occasion with something memorable. Last November, I googled “bear watching” as I’ve loved (and been terrified) of bears since I was about five years old when there was a bear in our…

Somewhere on the Douglas Channel
Back in Prince Rupert tonight and then on to Vancouver in the morning for a few more days of vacation. This was taken on the way back to Hartley Bay to catch the seaplane to Prince Rupert. It was a spectacular week – can’t wait to share the pictures!

Sunset In Prince Rupert
After a day of flying on Sunday…Regina to Calgary to Vancouver to Prince Rupert this sunset was the reward. Tomorrow is the seaplane trip to meet the boat at a small aboriginal fishing village called Hartley Bay. Hopefully the next week will include lots of wildlife viewing and great weather to enjoy the amazing scenery.

Great Bear Rainforest
My big trip is about a week and a half away…I’m excited and a little nervous, but mostly I’m just looking forward to seeing some amazing scenery, and experiencing a part of Canada that not many people know about. I like the West Coast, especially Tofino and Ucluelet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island,…

Coffee Break
I worked the weekend, so I’m off today and thought I would tackle some spring cleaning projects (ie. organizing my storage closet where everything I didn’t know what to do with this winter ended up). My reward for my efforts was enjoying afternoon coffee on my balcony where I get full afternoon sun. (I took…

Build Me Up Buttercup
…and just like that we are into Spring, actually Summer-like, temperatures. It’s been a beautiful few days here and suddenly the never-ending winter is a thing of the past. We melted at work today and are hopeful tomorrow will be a bit cooler inside (I’m definitely not complaining about the outside temperature!) otherwise we may…

Hope
When I went grocery shopping the other day I picked up some lettuce and spinach seeds. It finally is starting to feel like spring (although there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow) and just having the seeds in my possession is giving me hope that, yes, maybe this never-ending winter will actually end. So,…

confused geese
The geese have returned to Wascana Park in droves as they do at this time of year, every year. Every June there are so many geese in the park, that a good number of them are rounded up and transported elsewhere. But they must be wondering what the heck right now. Snow! Cold! Only small…

The Continuing Chronicles of the Scottie Dogs
I went to my mom and dad’s this weekend and the Scotties came along too (courtesy my brother, while my sister-in-law stayed home with the flu). The Scotties are always photogenic. Here’s a picture of Casey in a quiet moment. He just wants everyone to like him. Followed by a picture of his distinguished older…
