Perfect location for a scary movie
We were traveling from one inlet to the next, and passed this old cannery on Princess Royal Island. It spooked me and stirred that part of my imagination that thinks of scary movies. It would be a perfect location. Remote. Lonely. Old buildings and all the things that could have transpired inside. One stark lightbulb…

Creatures of the Forest
Unlike when you are out for a hike where bears could be present and you want to make as much noise as possible so they know they are sharing the forest, when you are bear watching from a zodiac or other boat the goal is to be as quiet as possible. Many times we’d turn…

Chocolate Lilies
Many of the inlets we visited were full of beautiful wild flowers, some of which I’d never seen before…like the chocolate lily.

I turned 40 a few months ago. I spent a lot of year 39 thinking about turning 40 and wanted to mark the occasion with something memorable. Last November, I googled “bear watching” as I’ve loved (and been terrified) of bears since I was about five years old when there was a bear in our…

Sunset In Prince Rupert
After a day of flying on Sunday…Regina to Calgary to Vancouver to Prince Rupert this sunset was the reward. Tomorrow is the seaplane trip to meet the boat at a small aboriginal fishing village called Hartley Bay. Great Bear Rainforest
My big trip is about a week and a half away…I’m excited and a little nervous, but mostly I’m just looking forward to seeing some amazing scenery, and experiencing a part of Canada that not many people know about. I like the West Coast, especially Tofino and Ucluelet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island,…
