wonders of Haleakala National Park (with quotes)

If you are planning a trip to Maui, go to Haleakala National Park!  If you’re not keen on getting up at 3:30 am on vacation to get there in time for sunrise (which is what you will have to do if you’re staying on the west side of the island!), a day trip is worthwhile. The drive through Upcountry is lush, beautiful and unique – there’s so much to do in this area that if the weather isn’t good and you decide not to drive up to the volcano, you will still have had an enjoyable day.

Once you reach the summit, you’re transported to another world. It’s pretty amazing (and cold, dress warm!!!).

Haleakala - March 7
In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous. — Aristotle
Haleakala National Park - crater - March 7
To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring — these are some of the rewards of the simple life. -John Burrough
Haleakala Clouds 1 - March 7
One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things. – Henry Miller
a reminder of how small we really are
When we look up, it widens our horizons. We see what a little speck we are in the universe, so insignificant, and we all take ourselves so seriously, but in the sky, there are no boundaries. No differences of caste or religion or race. -Julia Gregson
