Sir Paul McCartney at Mosaic Stadium
Last night was a pretty fantastic night in the Queen City. Sir Paul McCartney was in town and played to a sold-out Mosaic Stadium (I think that was the final word – there was some debate beforehand why it didn’t sell-out sooner). I’m not a Paul McCartney superfan, but I definitely knew I was going to enjoy the show and when a guy like him comes to your town, how can you pass up that opportunity?! It was probably the best concert I’ve ever been! He never left the stage for three hours!

I took my Canon Powershot SX200, and from my seat in the south-end zone was able to zoom in enough on the big screen to get a couple of pics. At one point, I held up my thumb, and yup, from where I was, he was pretty much that big! But to be there, experience his show, and be among 40 000 other people, enjoying a beautiful summer night was pretty special.
The concert was about 45 minutes late to start – logistically, getting 40 000 people to the stadium and into their seats took a little longer than anticipated. Here’s the line I was in…
I had lots of time to take pictures once inside the stadium. I’ve never sat at that end of the stadium and it was a really great perspective to take in Mosaic. In a couple of years, it will be torn down, replaced by a brand new stadium across the street. It made me feel quite sentimental to take it all in from that vantage point. I’m excited for a new stadium, but it will be a sad day when Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field disappears from the Regina skyline.
