early spring on the prairies

“Not a breath of air stirred over the free and open prairie; the clouds were like light piles of cotton; and where the blue sky was visible, it wore a hazy and languid aspect.”
-Francis Parkman

clouds on the prairies

A quick break from New Orleans pics…this is just south of Regina last week. The last few weeks have been pretty drab here – that in between time when the snow has all melted and everything is boring shades of beige and brown and taupe, but now the trees are starting to bud and little green plants are starting to emerge from the ground. It’s one of my favourite times of the year – when everything is starting to emerge.  But even when things are drab looking here, a prairie sky never disappoints.
