Digging in the dirt

Image

Tulips in Whistler, BC, June 2011.

This is one of my favourite times of the year. I always plant my flowers earlier than what is recommended for my area, but I just can’t wait to feel the soil between my fingers and the dirt under my fingernails. This year I decided not to pre-plan what flowers I would buy and instead went to the greenhouse and just bought what looked good.  So this year, it’s petunias, fuschias, nicotianas, double impatiens, garden mums, sweet 100 tomatoes, and pineapple tomatoes.

Update:  the forecast for today is rain AND snow!  Guess I’ll be bringing those flowers inside.
