the sky is my endless fascination

As in Maui in 2015, I don’t think I missed a sunset in Puerto Vallarta.  The sky is my endless fascination.

Most of the sunset pictures I took in Puerto Vallarta were from the rooftop pool. I don’t really have a bucket list, but I’ve always wanted to stay somewhere with a private pool.

Rooftop pool

…a lot of time was spent in this pool staring out at the sea (but my favourite time in the pool was in the evening look at the lights of Puerto Vallarta and the moon)…

tropical kingfisher?

Every morning in Puerto Vallarta while enjoying a cup of coffee, I’d have my camera ready to take pictures of activity in Banderas Bay – sometimes it was a cruise ship coming into port or fishing boats, but a lot of times I was trying to capture all the different birds that landed in view of the balcony.

I think this is a tropical kingfisher, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

smell the sea, and feel the sky
let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic…”

sunset sail

Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta…many photographs to share after two weeks in Puerto Vallarta, but this is one of my favourites.

The number of sleeps until Maui is now in the single digits!  I’ve planned sight-seeing/photography activities for six of the ten days, leaving room to read by the pool, go to the beach, and just generally laze about if that’s what the day feels like. The only activity I’ve booked in advance is a sunset sail from Lahaina.  I love being on the water!

This is a picture I took on a sunset sail in Puerta Vallarta in March 2012 – on that sail dolphins swam along with the boat and there is a pretty good chance we’ll see whales on this sail.

“come sail away”

Who wouldn’t love to sail off into the sunset on a cold, snowy, Monday?

…and now I’m going to spend the rest of the evening with the Styx song “Come Sail Away” in my head!

Come sail away with me
Come sail away come sail away
Come sail away with me
